Reel Good Film Club
In 2014 I founded Reel Good Film Club with my friends Maria Cabrera and Lydia Heathcote. Initially screening Charles Lane's Sidewalk Stories as part of 2014's Scalarama in Brighton, we have since gone on to establish ourselves as a film club putting on events in London, Brighton, Nottingham and Manchester.
The aim of Reel Good Film Club is to showcase diversity and the works of people of colour in film through non-profit and inclusive screenings, events and panels.
We have screened films including The Watermelon Woman, Losing Ground, Tangerine and Fruitvale Station as well as hosted two music video parties (including one to celebrate Missy Elliott's birthday last year!) Our screenings have taken place at venues including Deptford Cinema, the Whitechapel Gallery, Genesis Cinema, the V&A and BFI Southbank. Our collaborators have included WOC Film Club, gal-dem and Scalarama.
